A note on the name

"Cherry blossom agate" is used in the trade for two rather different things, and it is worth knowing which you are after.

One is flower agate or sakura agate from Madagascar — pale chalcedony containing feathery mineral inclusions that genuinely look like little blossoms suspended in the stone. The other is simply pink chalcedony, which is what this listing specifies, from Brazil.

Both are attractive; they do not look the same. If it is the blossom-patterned Madagascan material you have in mind, tell us before ordering and we will check what is actually in stock rather than let the name do the work. Note too that strongly coloured pink chalcedony is often dyed, as most vividly coloured chalcedony is — a standard, stable practice, but one worth knowing about.

Chalcedony is quartz-family and hard — Mohs 6.5 to 7 — so the beads are durable and do not fade.
